What is controller stick drift?
Stick drift is when an analog stick reports position or movement even though nothing is touching it, or continues to report an off-center position after you release it. It can range from a barely noticeable flicker to a persistent pull that affects aiming or movement in games.
How to test for stick drift
Connect your controller, place it on a flat surface without touching the sticks, and watch the dot in each circle above. A dot that stays essentially centered indicates no meaningful drift; a dot that wanders outside the dashed deadzone circle — especially consistently, in one direction — is worth a closer look. Use Record 5-second sample to capture an average and maximum offset over a short window instead of eyeballing it.
What amount of stick drift is normal?
There's no single universal number, since tolerances differ by controller model, firmware, game, and even the game's own deadzone settings. Movement outside your selected deadzone may indicate stick drift, but small readings near the deadzone boundary are common and not necessarily a defect. Treat this tool as a diagnostic aid, not a certification.

Why does the maximum drift value keep increasing?
